The Crossing: The Border Trilogy Volume 2

Can’t seem to put this one down. Cormac McCarthy’s prose is part of my dialy rhythm now and I’m loathe to give it up though I did have plans to read Sebald’s Virtigo this week. Such strong, physical writing – dialogue and description – that it enraptures and startles in equal measure. Billy Parham learns the ways of the woods and wolves in a rite of passage that resonates with Jack London and Melville’s Moby Dick. You just get enough information, never too much to unearth all the secrets and spirits lurking below. There’s the mystery. The action sequences are real page turners.
Good to be back into voracious reader mode!
